Intel has a new series of 15W U-series chips for thin laptops that don't require a ton of power. They're getting a new brand name: Intel Core Mobile Processors Series 1. At the moment, Intel Core (no generation, no "Ultra") appears to be the name specifically for the 15W chips. These new processors are not part of Intel's 14th Gen Core HX lineup, nor the Intel Core Ultra (also Series 1) line, where the H-series parts can be found. Still with me?

Turin, AMD's upcoming Zen 5-based Epyc processor, has been pictured for the first time by leaker @yuuki_ans on X. The 5th-gen Epyc server and datacenter CPU is expected to launch in 2024.

Western Digital has informed customers that prices for NAND flash memory may rise by up to 55% in the coming quarters, according to industry sources. NAND flash prices have been rising sharply in the second half of 2023, and the extent of increases in the fourth quarter has been much faster than expected. Western Digital has already notified its customers that it will raise the prices for both NAND and HDD. The notification comes as memory chip vendors continue to slash output with inventory correction in the supply chain drawing to a close.

Ampere's new AmpereOne data center CPUs come bursting at the seams with up to 192 cores, but that plentiful helping has caused difficulties with Linux. According to Phoronix, the new CPUs have so many cores that Linux doesn't support systems when two of Ampere's 192-core chips (384 total cores) are installed in a single server.

The new memory kits are available in quad-channel configurations and can be used for WRX90 and TRX50 platforms designed for workstations and high-end desktops.

Intel has officially confirmed at an Asian conference (according to @wxnod on Twitter), that more 14th-gen Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs are coming. These include new 65W S-series desktop variants, and new high-performance mobile chips featuring the "HX" moniker.

AMD's Ryzen 9 7845HX and Ryzen 9 7945HX processors are among the fastest gaming CPUs for laptops, and since these are the company's ultra-high-end offerings, they ought to be quite expensive, which somehow limits their adoption by PC makers. In a bid to capture some additional market share, AMD is reportedly prepping Ryzen 9 7840HX and Ryzen 9 7940HX CPUs that will offer similar core count, but will run at slight slower clocks.
